It was a cold and grey day on Sunday 2nd August when a posse of 1-3 year junior bowlers from miles around and clubs including Royal Oak, Blockhouse Bay, Warkworth, Pringle Park, Hobsonville, and Helensville rode into Glen Eden for the third annual Great Western Showdown.
17 teams took to the green (one must have got ambushed on the way) and bowled up a storm, with lots of close games and just a few that weren’t so close. At the close of play the winners were found:
2nd: Matthew Higginson, Chris Searle and Carl Sutton – Orewa
3rd: Doug Johns, Angnes William and Brian Hughes – Glen Eden
4th: Graham Ball, Hanaan Shabwan, and Ngaire Bali – Helensville
