Blue Ribbon Prostate Fundraiser match report

SATURDAY 27 SEPTEMBER ’25

As part of Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand’s Blue September and Bowls New Zealand Check Your Bowls campaign the members of the Glen Eden Bowlers club decided to show their support for PCFNZ’s research into prostate cancer; the most commonly diagnosed cancer in New Zealand with around 4,000 diagnosed every year with more than 700 men dying on average every year from it.

So the call went out for bowlers and non-bowlers alike to take part in our Blue Ribbon Men’s Combination Triples tournament, and what a great day for the Prostate Fundraiser with teams arriving from : Otahuhu Railways, Mt Albert, Pt Chev, Titirangi, Howick, Pringle Park, Hunua, Homai, Browns Bay, Carlton Cornwall, Papatoetoe, GEBC, 1 Mixed Bowling Team & 1 Non Bowlers Team.

Leading up to this event volunteers started setting up Prostate decorations and the Dickie Doo Wall during the week. Thank you Cha, Dan, Janet & Siosiana.

It was a good turn out for the Prostate Fundraiser and the theme: M.A.S.H Unit from tv series – Dr Jim & Nurse Simpson.
Stitch the Mascot for Superior Glass – Brian Childs the sponsor for the event.
We also had the Smurfs floating around the clubhouse.
We also had 27 Raffle prizes & 3 Hampers, Battery Weed-eater and money raffles on the day.
We had packed lunches from “Flour Flower” for the bowlers and volunteers.
