The heavens opened up during the week leading up to the event and it was still raining on Friday afternoon so the tournament manager had a restless Friday night wondering if the game was going to be on both greens or just the A Green which is carpet.
Saturday morning: it’s a bright cool morning and teams arrive from near and far to play. The day turned out to be a fine and sunny one with the odd spit of rain drops.
The Green Keeper and helpers rolled the green at least 4 times to get most of the excess water off and filled in patches mainly on rink 5 which in the end we had to admit was unplayable for the day, so PLAN B was not needed. YIPPEE!!! 😂
There were 30 teams participating and they were from Pt Chev., Te Atatu,Otahuhu, Grey Lynn, Carlton, Bowls Auckland, Auckland Bowling Club New Lynn, Titirangi, Cambridge, Hobsonville, Blockhouse Bay, Pringle Park & our own members GEBC.
There was camaraderie and friendly bantering amongst the teams on both greens 🤔😜🤪🤣😂
Morning Tea & Lunch was put on by Andrew,Moana,Rob,Rachel & family cooking the barbecue. After a good hearty feast no one wanted to go back to play the 2 games because they were so full and in need of a nana nap LOL 😂😂🤣🤣
Tug Boat – there were quite a few wrong bias but the camera person was too slow to capture on camera 🤪
